Welcome to the Farmdale Frontier! 🤠

Howdy, Farmdale Families! The Falcon Dash is officially underway, and this year we’re heading out to the Farmdale Frontier!

Be sure to check your student’s green folder for their Falcon Dash packet. Register online by 9 p.m. Tuesday, September 8th, and your student will receive a Western rubber ducky!

🌵 Our first Frontier Challenge is also underway! The first classroom to have 80% of its students registered for the Dash will earn popsicles for the entire class!

Let’s round up those registrations, start gathering donations, and get ready to Dash, Farmdale!

2026 Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

CHIP covers uninsured children and teens up to age 19 – and no family earns too much to qualify. With nearly 128,000 uninsured children in Pennsylvania, this is great news for families!

CHIP provides quality, comprehensive health insurance for routine doctor’s visits, prescriptions, dental, eye care, eyeglasses, mental health, and much more. CHIP covers uninsured kids who are not eligible for Medical Assistance. For many families, CHIP is free; for others, it is low-cost.

Stadium Guidelines & Athletic Season Passes

The first HHS home football game is this Friday! Before you head to the game, take a moment to review our stadium guidelines to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.

High School Athletic Season Passes are on sale now! Beat the lines and purchase yours this week:

General Public: Buchanan Office, 8–2:30 and 3–4 pm daily
Students: Athletic Department throughout the school day
Game Day 9/4: Passes will be available at the stadium starting at 5:30 pm

Hempfield School District is hiring Special Education Paraprofessionals across the district, as well as for other positions. $1,000 stipend available for paraprofessionals working in our Autistic Support classrooms this school year.

Welcome to a new school year, Farmdale Families! Please find updates below for the start of the school year.

*Back to School Night

Please join us for Farmdale’s Back to School Night tomorrow, Tuesday, September 1st. Parents and guardians are invited to meet the faculty and learn about our plans for the school year. We ask that children do not attend. Doors open at 6:15 PM and the first session begins promptly at 6:30 PM.

*Emergency Drills

Throughout the school year we conduct regular emergency drills, such as fire, intruder, and severe weather. The purpose of the drills is to practice and be prepared in the case of a true emergency. Last week, we performed our first fire drill of the school year.

Classroom discussions about safety occur on a regular basis between teachers and students. These discussions often refer back to a picture book that has been read aloud to all students, I’m Not Scared, I’m Prepared. This picture book presents safety in a manner consistent with the title- not to scare but to prepare. We appreciate you partnering with us by discussing safety at home with your child.

*Afternoon Pickup for Car Riders

Dismissal starts at 3:30 PM. When picking up students, please display your color car rider tag with your student’s name on your dash or visor so that it is easily visible to staff. If you do not have a car rider tag yet, please have your driver’s license ready. Please stay in your vehicle, and a staff member will check your ID. If you need another car rider tag, please inform the office.

If you are the first vehicle in the loop, please pull all the way up behind the first numbered cone. All other vehicles, please pull up as closely as possible to the vehicle in front of you so that we can get as much traffic as possible off the road. If it all possible, please wait until 3:40 PM to get in the pickup line to help cut down on traffic. We highly encourage families to only turn right out of the parking lot after picking up students to help with traffic flow.

If your student is assigned a bus, if it all possible, please allow your child to ride the bus in order to help with road congestion during dismissal.

We ask that you remain patient with our faculty and staff as we help students learn new routines. Much time and effort goes into the arrival and dismissal plan with students’ safety in mind. Delays may occur during the first few weeks of school as everyone learns new routines.
